The St. Regis Changsha opened as the hotel brand’s eighth property in China. The hotel, located in the capital city of Hunan province in south-central China, occupies the 48th to 63rd floors of one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers and includes its own helipad on the 63rd floor. There are 188 guest rooms and The St. Regis Athletic Club is located on the top floor and features an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. The hotel offers six culinary options that include a specialty Chinese restaurant, a Japanese restaurant, a tea lounge and a bar. There is 26,900 square feet of meeting and event space, including nine meeting rooms, a 20,300-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate 1,700 guests, and a 7,100-square-foot prefunction space.
The Yuluxe Sheshan, Shanghai, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel debuted following a multimillion-dollar renovation. The upgrades include the fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools and a spa. Food and beverage options include Yu Palace, which serves Cantonese, Hang and local cuisines with 11 private rooms; Le Cafe, which offers Continental and Asian fare; the Skyline Lobby Lounge; and The Shandy Bar. The hotel is surrounded by natural lakes, forests and parks, and each of its 325 guest rooms offers views of Sheshan or Moon Lake. The property features 16 meeting rooms, including a 19,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,800 guests.
Colombia
Hilton Medellin is scheduled to open in the country’s second-largest city in 2019. The 25-story, 206-room new-build development will be one of the largest real estate investments in the city this year. The hotel is located on Avenida de las Palmas in the upscale El Poblado neighborhood and will be part of a mixed-use development that will include retail, office space and residential units. The property will feature more than 21,500 square feet of meeting space, including a 6,400-square-foot ballroom and five additional meeting rooms. Other amenities will include an outdoor pool, executive lounge, fitness center, restaurant and piano bar, spa facility and beauty salon.
Malta
Hard Rock International announced plans to open its third European resort, the Hard Rock Hotel Malta. The 370-room property, located in the St. George’s Bay area, will be part of a new mixed-use development called db City Centre, which includes a shopping mall, residences and office spaces. The resort will offer multiple food and beverage outlets, including a rooftop lounge, the brand’s Rock Spa and more than 37,000 square feet of function space.
United Kingdom
Moxy Hotels, a Marriott International brand, launched Moxy London Excel. This is the first hotel in London for the brand. The 164-room hotel features the brand’s Living Room, a communal space with locally inspired art and decor, outfitted with power and USB outlets, and a space for gatherings, special events or cocktails. In addition, there is a meeting room and ExCeL London convention center is adjacent.
Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, the first European hotel from the brand, is set to open its doors in June. The hotel will offer 150 guest rooms featuring an exposed concrete structure and contrasting bright white bathrooms. The seven suites will overlook the courtyard and garden from private balconies. The property will be home to the new Nobu Shoreditch restaurant by chef Nobu Matsuhisa. The restaurant will have an open-air space that is divided into four-level terraces and available for private events with a capacity for 80 people. The nearly 2,000-square-foot Kaijo meeting and event space can accommodate 200 guests or be divided into six separate spaces.
