MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.
The former site of one of the nation's largest noodle factories has a distinctly different look today—as a newly-constructed, upscale hotel named the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis – University Area.
Situated on the campus of the University of Minnesota, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis - University Area features 141 guest rooms and suites. The hotel is just across the Mississippi River, in close proximity to the Minneapolis Convention Center downtown, top medical institutions, professional and college sports venues and numerous Twin Cities cultural landmarks—many accessible via light rail.
"This year, the City of Lakes will continue to increase in popularity amongst travelers, with Minneapolis playing host to major cultural events and exhibits, such as the reopening of the Walker Sculpture Garden following extensive renovations," said Dianna Vaughan, senior VP and global head at DoubleTree.
The modern, five-story hotel blends modern elements with artwork from Minneapolis-area artists that pay tribute to some of the area's well-known bridges located on and nearby the University of Minnesota campus. Other design highlights include the hotel's refreshing and relaxing earth colors, with blue accents representing the rushing blue water and sunlight-glinting gold hue of the Mississippi River.
With 6,500 square feet of meeting space, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis - University Area is capable of hosting weddings, meetings and other gatherings. Offering floor-to-ceiling windows, the Bridges Ballroom can accommodate up to 350 guests. For smaller events, five breakout spaces/meetings rooms are available. Any event can utilize the hotel's sound system, AV equipment and business center.
Other amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, heated indoor pool and access to nearby trails.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis - University Area is located directly off Interstate 94 on the University of Minnesota campus. The hotel is 10 miles from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
