Tampa International Airport is in the middle of a $1 billion expansion, decongesting the terminal, a roadway and curbsides. By the end of 2017 there will be 69 new shops and restaurants, many of them locally owned.

The Westshore Grand, formerly InterContinental Tampa, broke ground in September and will have 175 rooms and 96,000 square feet of space.
Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina has added a wellness floor.
Wyndham Grand Resort Clearwater Beach opened January 18. The Wyndham Grand will be the biggest hotel/resort on Clearwater Beach with 343 luxuriously appointed guest rooms; spectacular waterfront vistas; waterside bar and Clearwater Beach’s only Asian-Fusion restaurant Ocean Hai; 22,000-square feet of flexible meeting space, including the area’s largest ballroom.
Fenway Hotel opens February. The 1920s-era building returns to its original role as a hotel. Hyatt Place, Downtown St. Pete will open in late 2017 with 175 guest rooms and 4,600 square feet of meeting space. The hotel is part of a larger mixed-use development, One St. Petersburg, which is located in the heart of the city’s urban core.
The Beach House Suites by the Loews Don CeSar, at St. Pete Beach, the 70-room sister-property of the Loews Don CeSar, last year added 70 new all-suite accommodations as part of a $7.8 million renovation.
The Westin Sarasota will open this summer with 255 rooms, 26,000 square feet of function space, a rooftop pool and lounge and spa.
Zota Beach Resort, at Longboat Key, is set to open in May. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the luxury beach resort will feature 187 guest rooms and suites, more than 2,700 square feet of event space, a restaurant and wine bar and an outdoor pool.
