Dubbed “Brew City” by Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait, the city is getting a wave of new and expanding breweries. Already home to a dozen, such as Anaheim Brewery, Bruery Terreux, Hoparazzi Brewing Co., Unsung Brewing Company, Legends Craft Brewery and Phantom Ales, more are in the lineup to open this year. Many of the breweries offer event space as well as group tours and private tastings.
Following is the latest brewery news coming out of Anaheim.
Modern Times’ Leisuretown is coming to downtown Anaheim. Designed to be a destination, not just a brewery, the San Diego-based company, with two locations there, is expanding north. Located in a craftsman house, the 31,927-square-foot property will feature a cafe, food stalls, a swimming pool and poolside bar, movie screen, its own branded coffee and of course, lots of beer. Leisuretown will offer special and private event space and is designing and building the facilities with that in mind.
Golden Road Brewing, which first opened in Los Angeles and sold to Anheuser-Busch InBev last year, opened its OC tasting room in 2016 across from Angel Stadium and just minutes from the ARTIC, Anaheim’s transit station. Underway is the 56,000-square-foot expansion, which will include three outdoor bars, a sit-down restaurant, event space, a kids play area, a dog run, projectors and fire pits. The new space is scheduled for completion this summer.
Orange County’s own Bottle Logic (http://bottlelogic.com) is doubling its size into the adjacent building and outdoor patio area. The expanded tasting room will accommodate large parties and private events. Bottle Logic will also triple production capacity of its barrel-aged brews. The new space is expected to open by fall 2017.
Within walking distance of Angel Stadium and Honda Center, Noble Ale Works (www.noblealeworks.com) is another brewery undergoing growth this year. Noble Ale Works purchased the warehouse next door and will join the two spaces, adding 10,000 square feet to the beer production facility, including a new 30-barrel brewhouse and expanded tasting room. The brewery was named best small brewery in the world and won three medals, including gold at the 2016 World Beer Cup.
Located across the street from a foodie destination, the Anaheim Packing House–The Make Building (http://anaheimmake.com) will house a winery, distillery, restaurant and brewery under one roof. The 10,500-square-foot structure that was once a marmalade factory in the early 1900s now has an indoor and outdoor communal lounge space, as well as Unsung Brewing’s tasting room, which is already open.
