Mandarin Oriental, Boston announced the appointment of Philipp C. Knuepfer as general manager.
With over 15 years of global hospitality experience, Knuepfer began his career with Kempinski Hotels in his native Germany. Joining Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2002 at The Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii, he gained significant managerial experience in a variety of the Group’s properties in and around Asia and throughout the U.S.
Prior to serving the last year and a half as hotel manager of Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C., Knuepfer was instrumental in opening Mandarin Oriental, Taipei as hotel manager in May 2014. Drawing on leadership, guest relations and operational experiences, Knuepfer’s additional Group assignments have included: executive assistant manager at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore; director of food and beverage, Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai; and assistant director of food and beverage, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.

Originally from Bonn, Germany, Knuepfer attended the International School for Hotel & Catering Business in Munich, where he earned his degree in Hotel Management. He has also earned certificates in Hospitality Management at Cornell University and an M.B.A. from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
