The Entertainment Capital of the World never needs an excuse to celebrate, and this year is no exception. Some of Las Vegas’ most popular properties are marking significant anniversaries, repeat mega-tradeshows continue to return with more sophisticated technology and larger attendance year after year, and the city itself is investing in vital infrastructure to ensure seamless experiences for groups.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Meetings Today Las Vegas supplement by Senior Contributor Jeff Heilman, commemorating the many anniversaries on tap throughout the city.
In our lead story, “Global Gateway,” he finds Las Vegas once again leading the pack as far as North America’s tradeshow industry. Home to repeat customers like CES, the city is ever evolving to meet the demands of its clientele, including an expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center District. Heilman also documents the trends in technology and otherwise for incoming groups.
Innovation is at the center of “Full Speed Ahead,” in which Heilman looks at the upgrades and upcoming projects that will define Las Vegas in the future, everything from new hotels to added sports teams.
At the heart of this edition, Las Vegas is also showcasing the longevity of many of its properties and projects in “Milestone Moments.” Anniversaries include everything from Tropicana Las Vegas’ 60-year commemoration to more than 20 years for Downtown’s Fremont Street Experience. Heilman also speaks with celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck on his influence on the Vegas culinary scene over the years.
“Safe Guards” delves into the city’s plans for boosting infrastructure in safety, water conservation and transportation to the destination. Meanwhile, in “Meetings Madness,” Heilman highlights the scope and variety of meetings and tradeshows that call Las Vegas home.
