MidAmerica Upgrades + Openings (June 2017)

Illinois
Alliance Hospitality unveiled the Delta by Marriott Chicago North Shore in Glenview. The property underwent an extensive renovation that covered all areas of the hotel, including all 255 suites, 7,378 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool and a fitness and training center. Additions included an Elite Pantry, a Starbucks cafe and the Bourbon Kitchen & Tap restaurant. The lobby and six-story atrium features a new design. The meeting space, which can accommodate 450 guests, includes two ballrooms, two boardrooms and nine breakout rooms.

The Talbott Hotel, a Joie de Vivre boutique property, is set to reopen in May following a four-month renovation. The hotel, originally constructed in 1927, received a full interior refresh, including new guest rooms and suites that increase the total number of keys from 149 to 178. All public areas, including the lobby and meeting spaces, were also renovated and a fitness center was added. 20 East, the new restaurant on-site, will offer modern takes on American fare from chef James Keane. There are two meeting spaces, the McRae Room and the Reed Room, offering 1,600 square feet of space for up to 200 guests.

The Westin Chicago Northwest completed an extensive multimillion-dollar renovation. Included are three new on-site restaurants: The Marketplace, 400 Park Bistro and Seared Fine Dining. The hotel is located 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and 12 miles from O’Hare International Airport. The property offers 416 guest rooms and 45,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 9,600-square-foot Grand Ballroom, 31 meeting rooms and the Lakeside Pavilion, with a terrace.

Iowa
The Current Iowa, a new Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, is set to open this summer. Located in downtown Davenport, the property has views of the Mississippi River and is one block from The Figge Art Museum. The Quad Cities hotel features 78 guest rooms, including 30 suites on nine floors with the seventh and eight floors dedicated to apartments. The Executive Suites have full kitchens as well as washers and dryers. There are three meeting rooms, a fitness room, a pool and a club room. The hotel will offer two dining options: VIVA Mexican Bar and Restaurant and UP Rooftop Bar and Restaurant, as well as private dining space.

Minnesota
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis–University Area opened on the former site of one of the nation’s largest noodle factories. The 141-room hotel is situated on the campus of the University of Minnesota and across the Mississippi River from the Minneapolis Convention Center downtown. There is artwork from local Minneapolis artists throughout the property that pays tribute to the area’s well-known bridges. The hotel offers 6,500 square feet of meeting space, including the Bridges Ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and five breakout spaces.

Wisconsin
The 67-room Gundersen Hotel & Suites will open this summer adjacent to the Gundersen Health System, La Crosse campus. The hotel will be the company’s first independent brand. Located less than two miles from downtown La Crosse, the all-suite hotel offers full kitchens, work spaces and sitting areas. Hotel amenities will include a free breakfast served daily, an indoor pool, a fitness center and a business center. The Riverview Terrace room on the fourth floor offers views of the river, and along with the Executive Board is available to for events and meetings.
