Maryland
Hunt Valley Inn rebranded and is now the Delta Hotels Baltimore Hunt Valley. In addition to its rebranding, the hotel completed a property-wide renovation across its 392 guest rooms and 30,000 square feet of event space. Meeting space includes a nearly 9,500-square-foot ballroom as well as an additional smaller ballroom, 16 meeting rooms, outdoor spaces and private gardens. For on-site dining, there is Cinnamon Tree Restaurant, Polo Lounge & Bar and Cafe 245.
Massachusetts
Revere Hotel Boston Common completed a $28 million transformation, featuring a fully remodeled lobby area, rooftop pool, 356 guest rooms and 42,000 square feet of event and meeting spaces. The Back Bay hotel’s open lobby boasts a lantern sculpture suspended over the front desk that was fabricated from vintage colonial-style lanterns and made by famed Bostonian artist Bruce Rosenbaum. There is also custom artwork throughout, including a wall-to-wall mural of the Boston Massacre, a life-size sculpture of Paul Revere’s horse created from recycled materials, and stained-glass panels inspired by the Old North Church. The property offers a rooftop pool and lounge with a full bar and new outdoor and poolside seating and lounge options.
Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College unveiled its multimillion-dollar upgrades to the conference center and 91 guest rooms. The property, located on Boston’s North Shore, renovated guest rooms with new hard goods and design. The IACC-certified 17,500 square feet of meeting space includes 26 function rooms and upgraded technology, improved presentation capabilities and revamped interior design.
New York
The former Lord Amherst Hotel will join Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio as the Reikart House when it opens this summer. The 92-room hotel on Main Street will also feature a new restaurant, Jazzboline, which will open in 2018 with a bar and events venue. Owned by Iskalo Development Corp., the hotel will be operated by Greenwood Hospitality Group. It is named for vaudeville musicians Frank and Dolly Reikart, who settled in Amherst in the early 1900s. The new hotel will offer more than 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Pennsylvania
The Genetti Hotel & Suites opened in Williamsport. The historic property was built in 1922 and is part of the SureStay Hotel Group and is a SureStay Signature Collection hotel. There are 164 guest rooms and more than 14,000 square feet of meeting space, including two ballrooms and five meeting rooms. The hotel is home to Genetti Taphouse, a full-service restaurant serving American fare.
Rhode Island
The Newport Marriott debuted its newly renovated 7,686-square-foot Grand Ballroom. The space features a coastal color palette along with ocean-inspired decor. The completion of the ballroom remodel marks the final phase of the full-property renovation that included all 312 guest rooms, meeting space, the greatroom lobby, restaurants and bars, and the fitness club. The hotel offers over 24,100 square feet of meeting space, including a grand ballroom that can seat 500 guests, an 8,800-square-foot Atrium and 16 meeting rooms.
Virginia
Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles completed renovations that transformed two-thirds of the hotel’s 60,000 square feet of function space. The updated event space includes a lower and upper rotunda, three ballrooms, a second-floor promenade and the West Lobby with doors that open onto Sunset terrace. Two new small-group rooms feature glass walls and are situated near the ballrooms. In 2016, the 336-room hotel installed a customizable 15-by-10-foot media wall in the lower rotunda and created The Studio, a high-tech boardroom with a touch-screen table, adaptive colored lighting and surround-sound conference call audio.
