The Cape Arundel Inn & Resort unveiled newly designed accommodations known as the Rockbound Bungalows. The six rooms are adjacent to the Victorian-era home that is the Main House of the resort, and boast views of the Atlantic Ocean. Inspired by the seaside setting, the bungalows are king-bedded rooms equipped with a breakfast bar and sitting area surrounding a gas fireplace. In addition to the Main House, the Kennebunkport 15-acre resort includes the Club House with an additional 14 rooms, a three-bedroom cottage, an outdoor pool, a library with a vintage pool table, fire place and full bar as well as a meeting room and large lawns for outdoor events.
Maryland
Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center unveiled its new waterfront venue, the RiverView Ballroom. The 16,000-square-foot ballroom was constructed to provide column-free, unobstructed views from its floor-to-ceiling windows and gives guests the feeling of floating atop the Potomac River. The ballroom also features two outdoor terraces equaling more than 10,000 square feet of space. With the addition of RiverView Ballroom, the 1,886-room property now offers five ballrooms and more than 600,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space.
New York
Hyatt House New York/Chelsea debuted in Chelsea’s historic Flower District. The 30-story new-build property is the first Hyatt House hotel to open in the city and features 150 guest rooms. The property’s 30th floor open-air rooftop recreational area offers 800 square feet and can be used for private events of up to 50 people. On the hotel’s second floor is H BAR, which can also host midday events and functions, and the hotel’s 1,400-square-foot lounge space that features city views and which can accommodate groups of up to 75 people. In summer, the hotel will debut a 1,300-square-foot outdoor space on its 11th floor.
Pennsylvania
Shaner Hotels announced the opening of the 120-room Courtyard by Marriott Hershey Chocolate Avenue. The four-story property is set between downtown Hershey, the Hershey Country Club, Hershey Chocolate World, Hersheypark and the Hershey Medical Center. Hotel amenities include guest laundry, a fitness room, an indoor pool and a full-service business center. The hotel features the Courtyard Refreshing Business lobby, the brand’s Bistro and an indoor pool as well as a 1,000-square-foot meeting room.
Rhode Island
Davidson Hotels & Resorts added the Hotel Viking to its portfolio under its luxury and lifestyle division, Pivot Hotels & Resorts. The 208-room historic Newport property first opened in 1926. Later this year, the hotel will undergo a multimillion-dollar update to its guest rooms and public spaces. The hotel offers multiple food and beverage outlets, including One Bellevue Restaurant & Bar and the Top of Newport, a rooftop bar with views of the Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. The property also features nearly 15,000 square feet of meeting space, fitness center, indoor pool and a full-service spa.
Washington, D.C.
The Darcy hotel is now part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. The Darcy Washington D.C., Curio Collection by Hilton, named after the fictional character, boasts a design inspired by the American Beauty Rose, the city’s official flower, along with elements of mixed wood with distressed metals. Restaurants include seafood-focused Siren and the more casual Lil’ B Coffee & Eatery, a street-level spot serving a Southern-inspired menu. The 226-room hotel offers about 5,500 square feet of meeting space, including the 200-person-capacity Logan Ballroom.
