21c Museum Hotel Nashville brings a bit of art to Music City with its recent opening. The brand is known for integrating art into each of its properties with collections and exhibits, often from local artists.
“Contemporary art is really the heart and soul of the 21c experience,” explained Phil Forte, general manager. “At 21c Nashville, we present rotating solo and group exhibitions, site-specific installations and a full roster of cultural programming curated by Museum Director and Chief Curator Alice Gray Stites.”
The series of permanent site-specific works features electronic artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s Bilateral Time Slicer Intermix, 2017, which uses facial recognition software to record an image of each viewer who passes by a screen.
“Our cultural programming is a critical component to the 21c experience as well,” Forte said. “In addition to artist lectures and film nights, we feature programming based on collaborations with local organizations.”
The 124-room hotel offers 10,500 square feet of art exhibition space and additional galleries, which can all double as meeting and event venues. Groups can also create experiences that incorporate our museum spaces.
“Meeting packages can be designed with built-in time dedicated to gallery tours with one of our docents, or to let attendees wander freely on their own,” Forte said. “For those looking for a bit more creativity, we can arrange a gallery scavenger hunt. We’ve even offered our Yoga with Art program to groups, set in one of our gallery spaces.”
