Q&A with James Flack // Executive Chef //
ECHO // St. Simons Island
What are your favorite things about living and working in the Golden Isles area?
The water, the people and the scenery.
How would you describe the current culinary scene in the Golden Isles?
I feel the culinary scene is growing here, as it did not long ago in Charleston, S.C. There are always great new restaurants popping up.
What recommendations do you have for group-friendly dining?
The Lodge at Sea Island, The Cloister, Zachry’s Seafood, Halyard Restaurant Group, Jekyll Island Club Hotel, Nazzaro’s, Sal’s Neighborhood Pizzeria, Fox’s Pizza Den.
What makes dining at ECHO special for groups?
Oceanfront dining, great food, local music and rich history. There is a buyout option for our dining room, and we have banquet rooms for private dining.
Do you have a favorite dish that you like to prepare for groups?
If I had to choose, my favorite dish currently on the menu is the tomato watermelon salad. I also like preparing fresh diver-caught sustainable fish for our guests. And we do have a banquet menu for group events.
