Illinois
Following an extensive renovation, Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge unveiled its redesigned guest accommodations. The property’s 185 reimagined rooms include 42 king suites, a presidential suite and a hospitality suite. The interior accents are inspired by urban downtown Chicago and bathtubs in many king rooms have been replaced with deluxe walk-in showers. Other new amenities include a ballroom and a Starbucks Coffee counter. The property offers the brand’s Next Gen Meeting Space, designed for collaboration with a flexible layout, pivotable walls, soft seating and modular furniture. The 10,700 square feet of meeting space includes 10 event rooms, a ballroom with a capacity for 900 people and an outdoor pavilion.
The Crowne Plaza Chicago SW–Burr Ridge opened and will be managed by Chesapeake Hospitality. The 123-room hotel offers nearly 7,500 square feet of meeting space, business and fitness centers and an indoor pool. The hotel includes Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats, a restaurant serving eclectic regional cuisine and a shareable menu with ingredients sourced from local farms when possible. The property is located near Chicago Midway Airport.
Michigan
Marshall Hotels & Resorts opened the 162-room Grand River Hotel, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member. The seven-story Grand Rapids property is near several local attractions, including 20 Monroe Live, Downtown Market and the Gerald R. Ford Museum. The hotel has an indoor pool, full-service dining facilities, an exercise facility, a business center and 2,500 square feet of meeting space. The hotel is also home to River Rock Dining & Lounge, a new dining concept offering local and regional fare, and during the spring and summer seasons live music on the patio overlooking the Grand River.
Minnesota
The Marquette Hotel is nearing completion on a $25 million transformation and conversion to the Curio Collection by Hilton portfolio. The hotel will be the brand’s first hotel in Minnesota. The property’s redesign and conversion is focused on showcasing the history of Minneapolis while paying homage to the missionary and explorer Jacques Marquette. The renovation includes 282 updated guest rooms, a new lobby, public spaces and the addition of Jacques restaurant. The hotel will offer amenities that include a fitness center, business center, bicycle rentals, in-room massages and over 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space. This includes the 4,700-square-foot Galaxy Ballroom that can accommodate 500 guests, and the 13,000-square-foot Windows on Minnesota space on the 50th floor.
Ohio
AC Hotel Columbus Dublin is scheduled to open its doors in September. Located in the upscale Bridge Park neighborhood just 20 minutes from downtown Columbus, the 150-room hotel is developed by Crawford Hoying and managed by Shaner Hotels. The property features VASO, the rooftop restaurant and bar serving cocktails paired with tapas and views of the Scioto River. There are five event rooms totaling 1,500 square feet.
Oklahoma
The Shangri-La Resort Hotel and Conference Center debuted on Oklahoma’s Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees in late June. The original Shangri-La resort opened in Tulsa in 1964, closed for renovations in the late 1960s and then went bankrupt in 1986. The resort now includes 120 guest rooms, 8,000 square feet of conference and ballroom space, and three separate restaurants. It also features 27 holes of championship golf and a 240-slip full-service marina.
