Leave it to Spain, renowned for its ultra-innovative chefs and sublime cuisine, to develop one of the most mind-blowing culinary experiences for small groups. Sublimotion, a gastronomic performance based at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza and headed for the U.S., blends cuisine, theater, music, art, design, technology, magic and neuroscience.
For the spectacle’s fourth season, famous Spanish chef Paco Roncero assembled a team encompassing other celebrity chef friends, including Dani Garcia, Diego Guerrero, Tono Perez and Paco Torreblanca, who together have earned eight Michelin stars. For Sublimotion, they crafted a multicourse dining experience utilizing cutting-edge culinary techniques, flavors, textures and experimental tableware.
A famous illusionist, a composer, a designer, a DJ and other talented professionals were also integral in the creation of the experience.
With a choreographed culinary service, table mapping and augmented and virtual reality, Sublimotion whisks diners into intriguing scenarios themed around the dishes being served.
“It is the ultimate culinary experience—an amazing sensory journey in which the cuisine is the star and the patrons actively participate in the show,” said Norema Salinas, a San Francisco Bay Area-based international culinary expert who owns a gourmet catering company in Madrid and plans to bring the Sublimotion experience to San Francisco next year. “Dani Garcia’s citric gazpacho with seafood served in a giant shell is amazing, as is Paco Roncero’s edible garden, and you enjoy them as if you are submerged in the sea or sitting in a grand garden.”
