LATEST+GREATEST: Caribbean

CANCUN

Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya opened earlier this year. The hotel has 214 guestrooms which include 41 suites and a 6,200 sq. ft. Balam Ballroom that has a capacity of up to 600.

CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort completed a 414 room and 36 suite guest room makeover, while adjoined sister property, JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa overhauls its guest rooms. Together, the renovation investment will total more than $40 million.

The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun underwent a $450 million transformation that elevated the resort to the highest possible luxury standards including more than 80,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun, which just introduced Turquoize, an adult-only experience, features 16,000 sq. ft. of meeting, event and reception spaces with ballrooms that accommodates up to 400 guests. The outdoor roof terrace accommodates up to 200 guests.

Paradisus by Meliá has completed a $2.6 million renovation to the Royal Service Ocean View Suites and exclusive Royal Service Lounge at Paradisus Cancun in Mexico. The large-scale renovation transformed 135 Royal Service Ocean View Suites.

CAYMAN ISLANDS

The 343-room Westin Grand Cayman has completed the redesign of public spaces including the main lobby, pool area and retail outlets. The hotel has 9,000 sq. ft. of indoor space and 73,000 sq. ft. of outdoor space.

The 266-room Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa is the brand’s first Caribbean property and Grand Cayman’s first new resort in more than a decade. The resort’s indoor and outdoor meeting space includes the 7,076-square-foot Aurea Ballroom.

Cozumel

The recently renovated all-inclusive Allegro Cozumel located on Playa San Francisco, one of the world’s most beautiful beaches on the island of Cozumel, features five swimming pools, unlimited meals, snacks and drinks at five restaurants. Water sports, scuba diving tennis and spa are also included. There’s also a kids club and the resort features a pirate theme water park featuring slides and geysers.

CUBA

Associated Luxury Hotels International added its first member hotel in Cuba, the new Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana, which just opened in Havana in early June, with 246 luxurious rooms and suites, and 2,852 square feet of meeting space.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel in Santo Domingo, is in the midst of a renovation to be completed by the end of 2017. The hotel has more than 50,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space.

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND

The Grand Lucayan on Grand Bahama Island introduces Lighthouse Pointe, the newest seaside retreat. Featuring spacious, stylish guest rooms and suites, it also exclusive access to four new restaurants.

NASSAU

The 1,800-room Grand Hyatt Baha Mar officially opened on Nassau. It has 200,000 square feet of meeting space; Royal Blue Golf Club, the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. The SLS Baha Mar will arrive in fall 2017, followed by the opening of Rosewood Baha Mar in spring 2018. The $4.2 billion beachfront development will eventually feature 2,300 rooms and suites.

The renovated Coral Towers at Atlantis will debut in July with a new lobby design and renovated guestrooms. Atlantis offers more than 500,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor function space.

The 694-room Meliá Nassau Beach Resort located on stunning Cable Beach has completed its $19 million renovation.

NEGRIL

The 407-room Royalton Negril Resort & Spa, opened in March after extensive renovations.

PLAYACAR

The newly renovated Allegro Playacar features a new pirate theme water park. The all-inclusive resort’s accommodations offer unobstructed views of the resort or the ocean. Allegro Playacar offers unlimited meals, snacks and beverages available at any of the three restaurants and five bars (including the refreshing swim-up bars).

PUERTO RICO

The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort & Spa in Puerto Rico renovated its 48,000 sq. ft. Oceanfront Conference Center along with beautiful indoor and outdoor venues ideal for special events or meetings for up to 2,300.

Associated Luxury Hotels International expanded the Caribbean options in its portfolio with the addition of its second member hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the legendary and newly renovated El San Juan Hotel. After a $60 million property-wide transformation, the hotel now features 388 newly remodeled guest rooms and suites, and more than 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space.

ST CROIX

The Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa constructed in 1986 by Lawrence Rockefeller, has begun Phase I of its renovation and has already unveiled refined new landscaping throughout the 23-acre property.
