Bristol
Under new ownership by the Newport Hotel Group, the Bristol Harbor Inn completed a renovation of its 40 guestrooms that includes such touches as refrigerators, LED flat-panel televisions and limited edition prints by local photographer Onne van der Wal. The property has meeting and event facilities for up to 200 guests.

Little Compton
Located on 2.6 acres at the tip of Sakonnet Point, the Stone House was acquired by Newport Experience and reopened after a $12 million renovation. Built as a private residence in 1854 and operated as an inn since the 1920s, the boutique property features guest rooms, a private beach, restaurant and event space with a terrace overlooking the water.

Middletown
The East Island Reserve, a luxury property with 24 self-contained cottages and a ten-room lodge, opened. Available for group buy-outs, the Reserve offers a lagoon-style pool and event space accommodating up to 100 people. It’s located next to Newport Vineyards, which recently competed a renovation and offers a restaurant, live music and a farmer’s market. 

The Sea Breeze Inn & Cafe completed a renovation and expansion and is now an upscale boutique property with 16 guest rooms, many with ocean views, and a full-service restaurant.

The Cambria Hotel Newport opened near Easton’s Beach, offering 143 rooms, many with ocean views. The property also features 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a full-service restaurant, saltwater pool, fitness center and shuttle service to and from downtown Newport. 

Newport
The former Hyatt Regency Newport is now Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina, a 257-room property on Goat Island with a full-service spa, marina, 27,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and extensive outdoor function areas overlooking Newport Harbor. The resort underwent an $18 million renovation and recently opened several new dining options, including Scarpetta, an Italian restaurant.

The Newport Marriott completed a $35 million renovation and expansion that added a new restaurant with harbor views and nautical-inspired decor for the 312 guestrooms. The hotel also upgraded its 24,117 square feet of meeting space, including a redesign of the grand ballroom and new tech features that include a private video conferencing unit.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk, a restored 19th century mansion converted to a luxury boutique hotel, recently renovated its lobby and 20 guest rooms, including new paint, carpeting and bedding. The property offers indoor and outdoor event space for up to 200 guests. 

The Hotel Viking is under new ownership and is now managed by Davidson Hotels & Resorts. The historic property unveiled a renovation of its 209 guestrooms, restaurant, lobby, spa and 13,000 square feet of meeting space, emphasizing natural light and maritime colors of blue, grey and taupe.
