Mexico’s interior is dotted with some of the nation’s largest meeting and convention facilities. From the massive and multiple convention centers of Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey to smaller-scale options in other destinations, these venues are built for business.
In Mexico City, Centro CitiBanamex has more than 365,000 square feet of convention and exhibit space, while the World Trade Center offers 65,000 square feet and Expo Bancomer Santa Fe has more than 100,000 square feet.
Guadalajara is home to what’s billed as the largest convention center in Mexico and Latin America: Expo Guadalajara, which has more than 1.2 million square feet of meeting and event space. Other options include the Telmex Auditorium (www.auditorio-telmex.com), which accommodates 11,500 people, and the 1,000-person Mundo Cuervo (www.mundocuervo.com), operated by the makers of Mexico’s largest tequila producer.
In Monterrey, two major facilities—CINTERMEX and Centro CONVEX—offer more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The newest meeting and convention facility in Puebla is Expo Center Puebla, which offers more than 430,000 square feet of space; the venue complements the 15,409-square-foot Puebla Convention Center and the University Cultural Complex (www.buap.mx), which accommodates up to 3,494 people.
In Guanajuato, choices include the Poliforum Leon Convention and Exhibition Center, which has more than 100,000 square feet of space in the city of Leon; La Casona del Leon, which offers more than 32,000 square feet of space in San Miguel de Allende; and Inforum Irapuato, with more than 100,000 square feet of space.
