San Antonio turns 300 in 2018 and will mark the occasion with a yearlong celebration that includes Commemorative Week in May 2018 as well as the kickoff event on Dec. 31, 2017, with a downtown celebration including food, entertainment and fireworks. Slated for a 2019 completion, the Thompson San Antonio Hotel and The Arts Residences, a $116 million mixed-use tower on the San Antonio River Walk, will include a 167-room boutique hotel.
Scheduled to debut in fall 2018, the Canopy by Hilton San Antonio River Walk will feature 195 rooms, a restaurant with an outdoor terrace overlooking the River Walk and more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space. In addition, the hotel will integrate the Civil War-era Alamo Fish Market into its 22-story design.
Ground is set to break in spring 2018 on the 100-room Saint Hotel, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Set on the River Walk, the seven-story property will join the growing portfolio of Saint Hotels—locations include Key West and New Orleans—whose motto is “play naughty, sleep saintly.”
Newly opened this fall one block from the Alamo and the River Walk, the Hilton Garden Inn San Antonio Downtown offers 2,400 square feet of meeting space along with such perks as a year-round heated pool and exercise room on the rooftop.
Recently opened on a former Air Force base, now preservation land and a work/play community, the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Brooks Hotel & Spa boasts a unique event space—historic Hangar 9, a restored WWI airplane hangar available for business events and special gatherings. The hotel also includes 156 suites, a full-service bar with classic cocktails, an on-site spa and multiple meeting rooms, including a grand ballroom.
The Hotel Valencia Riverwalk recently completed a top-to-bottom renovation to better reflect the region’s Spanish Colonial style. The 213-room boutique hotel offers 7,000 square feet of event space.
