Latest + Greatest: Mississippi (Nov. 2017)

Jackson

The 203-room Westin Jackson opened this summer in the heart of downtown with a spa, fitness studio, bistro and wine bar, and 12,000 square feet of meeting space.

A 125-unit Homewood Suites recently broke ground in Fondren, and is slated to open in early 2019.

The 95-suite Residence Inn Jackson The District at Eastover opened last year with a fitness center, swimming pool and a 552-square-foot meeting room.

Gulf Coast

The 154-suite Watermark Hotel Biloxi is currently under construction; the property is across from the Small Craft Harbor and on the corner of downtown Biloxi’s entertainment district, and is slated to open by summer 2018.

The Gulf Coast Event Center recently opened in Gulfport with four event rooms, an event prefunction space and a 3,550-square-foot ballroom. The facility is adjacent to three lodging facilities in Gulfport: the Holiday Inn Gulfport-Airport, Best Western Seaway Inn and Clarion Inn Gulfport.

An 100-room Hilton Garden Inn recently began construction in downtown Biloxi. The $12 million project has not yet announced a slated opening date.

Tupelo

The Elvis Presley Birthplace Trail opened in Tupelo last summer. The $11 million project connects the Elvis Presley Birthplace site with downtown Tupelo, and included a number of modifications and improvements for pedestrians, including widening Main Street and adding green spaces and trees, bike lanes, crosswalks, crossing signals and synchronized traffic signals.

Meridian

The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience attraction is slated to open late April 2018 in downtown Meridian. The attraction, known as The MAX, will showcase the impact of Mississippi on global culture through the arts to inspire future generations. The facility will include both a walk of fame and a hall of fame highlighting musicians, writers, visual artists, actors and cultural icons.
