MidAmerica Upgrades + Openings (Nov. 2017)

ILLINOIS

The Marriott Marquis Chicago opened next to McCormick Place in Chicago. The property brings 1,205 guest rooms, including 44 suites, to the entertainment and convention district of McCormick Square. Marriott Marquis Chicago is directly connected to the convention center and is adjacent to the new 10,000-seat Wintrust Arena. The property contains 93,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including two 25,000-square-foot ballrooms and 43,000 square feet of breakout meeting rooms. The Junior and Grand Ballrooms are among the largest in the city and feature views of the city skyline. Each ballroom has a floating ceiling plane comprised of repetitive angles that add creative dimension.

Viceroy Chicago, the latest addition to the Viceroy Icon Collection and the brand’s first property in the Midwest, opened its doors to guests and locals. Located in the heart of the Gold Coast neighborhood, the 180-room modern luxury hotel is located on the site of the former historic Cedar Hotel and features culinary concepts from Boka Restaurant Group. Viceroy Chicago includes the highly anticipated restaurant Somerset, helmed by James Beard Award finalist Lee Wolen. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the 18-story hotel and hosts a large landscaped and tree-lined patio. Wolen’s curated menus features flavor-forward and approachable dishes. The hotel offers 3,600 square feet of meeting space, including the 2,200-square-foot Cedar Ballroom and adjoining outdoor Lakeview Terrace.

INDIANA

The Radisson Hotel Louisville North opened in Clarksville, Ind., along the Indiana/Kentucky border. The hotel is 10 miles from both the Louisville International Airport and the iconic horse races at Churchill Downs. The hotel offers 353 guest rooms and suites. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, business center, heated indoor pool, seasonal outdoor pool, an on-site mini golf course and free parking. The Radisson Hotel Louisville North also includes a 15,694-square-foot conference center with eight professional meeting rooms and two ballrooms. On-site full service catering is available alongside complimentary shuttle service. Restaurants include the Champions Grille and Quarter Pole Lounge.

OHIO

The AC Hotel Columbus Dublin opened its doors in the upscale Bridge Park neighborhood, 20 minutes from downtown Columbus. The 150-room AC Hotel incorporates elements of European Modernism, the hotel features a spacious lobby, five meeting rooms, a fitness center and the brand’s signature AC Lounge. The property offers 1,569 square feet of meeting space.
