Massachusetts
The Boston Marriott Newton Hotel completed an extensive, multimillion-dollar interior renovation. The renovation encompassed all 430 guest rooms, including a unique bi-level presidential suite as well as a fully refurbished lobby, guest corridors, all meeting rooms and a 9,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom of the iconic hotel located on the banks of the Charles River.
Maryland
The Hotel at the University of Maryland, located in the Baltimore-Washington metro area, opened in early September. The 297-room hotel offers 43,000 square feet of meeting space in a 10-story structure and is located 10 miles from Washington, D.C., and 30 from Baltimore The property, which contains 10 event spaces, including a 10th-story penthouse that can be used as an event space, also features a fitness center, pool and open-air zen garden terrace on its fourth floor. Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa will open a 5,200-square foot facility near the beginning of 2018.
New Hampshire
Chatham Lodging Trust acquired the 131-room Hilton Garden Inn Portsmouth Downtown for $43.5 million. The property was fully renovated two within the past two years, and includes tkk square feet of meeting space. The hotel is located less than two miles from Pease International Tradeport, a former Air Force base that was converted into an industrial park that is home to approximately 250 companies employing some 10,000 people.
New York
Embassy Suites by Hilton opened a new-build hotel at Destiny USA, New York’s largest shopping, dining, outlet and entertainment destination. Embassy Suites by Hilton Syracuse Destiny USA offers 209 two-room suites and provides convenient access to downtown Syracuse, Syracuse Hancock International Airport, Syracuse University, New York State Fairgrounds and the Lakeview Amphitheater. Owned by Pyramid Management, the property contains 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, a free cooked-to-order breakfast each morning and complimentary shuttle service within six miles.
Washington, D.C.
The Loews Madison Hotel joined Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio as The Madison Washington DC, a Hilton Hotel. The 356-room hotel is located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., near the White House, and offers more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space, including eight meeting rooms. Built in 1963, the hotel, which was named after President James Madison and wife Dolley, has hosted a variety of luminaries, including President John F. Kennedy, who attended its commencement ceremony, Frank Sinatra and the Dalai Lama.
