Destinations International announced additions to the 2017-2018 Board of Directors and the Destination Foundation Board of Trustees. The new additions include association and travel industry leaders.
“Destination partners are critical to Destinations International and our members, so it is fitting that our board composition has been altered to reflect their key role in our mission,” said Tammy Blount, FCDME, president and CEO of the Monterey County CVB and Destinations International Board Chair.
New board members for Destinations International include:
- David Dubois, president & CEO, International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE).
- Cara Frank, vice president of marketing, Simpleview.
- Karl Ely, Senior vice president & publisher, American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
- Thomas Kemp, chairman & CEO, Northstar Travel Group.
- Monya Mandich, global senior director, marketing and communications, Expedia.
New board members for the Destinations International Foundation include:
- John Percy, president & CEO, Destination Niagara USA.
- Gregg Shapiro, president & chief creative officer, Tempest.
“The knowledge of our new trustees will be an asset to the Destinations International Foundation as we continue to empower destination marketers globally by providing education, research, advocacy and leadership development,” said Stephanie Pace Brown, president & CEO of Explore Asheville.
The new members were appointed following approval by both boards subsequent to the approval by membership during the 2017 Annual Meeting to the bylaws in July. As part of the Destinations International bylaws revisions, approved by membership during the July 13, 2017, Annual Meeting, the board roster now includes five seats for destination partner members. The board chair, with the concurrence of a majority of the directors, is responsible for making nominations to fill a vacancy or newly-created seat.
As part of the Destinations International Foundation’s bylaws revisions, approved by the Board of Trustees during their July 10, 2017 meeting, the board now comprises 25 voting members.
