Newport

Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina, formerly the Hyatt Regency Newport, completed renovations in summer 2017. Situated on nearly 10 acres of Goat Island with undisturbed waterfront views, the resort includes 257 guest rooms and suites, multiple event venues and a full-service spa. Among the new food-and-beverage outlets is Scarpetta, an Italian restaurant.

Middletown-based Cambria Hotel & Suites Newport opened in June with 143 guest rooms and several meeting settings, including  two pavilions, two banquet rooms and two conference rooms. The resort property also features a large full-service restaurant, lounge and indoor/outdoor swimming pool. 

Also located in Middletown is East Island Reserve Hotel, which features 24 independent cottages, 10 guest rooms and two suites. The meeting/event space is on target for a Memorial Day completion with a capacity of 75 to 100 people. 

Providence

Providence Marriott Downtown is embarking on a major transformation project that’s slated for completion in 2018. The hotel, which has 346 guest rooms and more than 23,000 square feet of meeting space, will be making both physical and structural updates throughout the property. 

Boutique chain Graduate Hotels recently purchased the historic Providence Biltmore and is committed to completing comprehensive renovations by spring 2019.

Wexford Science & Technology Innovation Complex, a $158 million project that currently has no published completion date, will feature a 170-room Aloft hotel with event space for meetings/events.
