Germany

Holiday Inn Express Cologne-City Centre, the largest Holiday Inn Express in Europe, recently debuted. The 323-room property, which is within walking distance to the Old Town, is located about a 25-minute drive from Cologne Bonn Airport. Features include free Wi-Fi and a continental breakfast buffet.

Italy

Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Hotels recently opened Sina Villa Medici, located in the historic center of Florence. Housed in a residence dating back to the 19th century, the hotel underwent an extensive nine-month refurbishment and now features 99 guest rooms and suites, all with balconies or terraces overlooking the city. There are also private gardens, a pool, wellness center and five conference rooms, each accommodating between 15 and 100 guests.

Japan

Prince Hotels opened the Nagoya Prince Hotel Sky Tower in October. The 170-room hotel is located on the 31st to 36th floors of Global Gate, a mixed-use complex in a redevelopment area south of Nagoya Station. Other hotel features include a 110-seat restaurant, 40-seat Club Lounge, fitness room and business center. The lobby atrium spans from the 31st to 36th floors, while the restaurant offers views and Mediterranean cuisine.

Malaysia

The Sheraton Petaling Jaya recently opened 20 minutes from Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur. The hotel features 253 guest rooms and suites. Club Room guests have exclusive access to the Sheraton Club Lounge and its views of the city from the 31st floor. For groups, the hotel offers more than 32,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including an over 16,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom. The hotel also offers 13 other versatile meeting rooms, a fitness center and infinity pool as well as a cigar lounge and rooftop bar.

Netherlands

NOVUM Hospitality’s niu Dairy Hotel in Haarlem is slated to open by the end of March 2018. The hotel will feature 84 rooms and is focusing on the cultural design concept “Milk & Music.” Architects are working to integrate elements from the world of agricultural production and alternative pop music into the interior design, including cowhides, milk bottles and portraits of local musicians. Other concepts include a “Living Lobby” with open space

Portugal

IBEROSTAR Lisboa opened in Lisbon this October. The five-star venue offers seven conference rooms with a capacity of approximately 100 people, as well as large modern spaces for hosting a variety of events, with a selection of meeting rooms, a lobby and gardens. The Luz restaurant can host approximately 150 people using indoor and outdoor space. Groups can also use the lobby bar and an outdoor pool bar with a view of the vertical gardens. An on-site spa offers a Turkish bath among other features.

Tanzania

Four Points by Sheraton Arusha, The Arusha Hotel recently debuted in Tanzania with 5,500 square feet of flexible indoor meeting space and sprawling gardens. The opening marks a rebranding of the Arusha Hotel, originally founded in 1894 and considered a city landmark attracting celebrities and dignitaries for more than a century. The 106-room property, located in Arusha’s central business district, offers an outdoor pool and fitness center. It will also soon add a poolside bar.
