Service Industry: Keys Strong!

As the Florida Keys gets back on its feet following Hurricane Irma, Key West’s two Waldorf Astoria Resorts, Casa Marina and The Reach, joined with Hilton leadership to help with cleanup and other efforts near the end of October.

Joining with not-for-profit relief group KeysStrong.org, Joe Berger, executive vice president and president, Americas for Hilton, and the Waldorf Astoria employees chipped in to load U-Hauls with supplies and assisted in the clean-up of Big Coppitt island.

“It was of paramount importance for us to focus on recently impacted areas such as Houston and the Florida Keys during Hilton’s Global Week of Service,” Berger said. “Our team members went above and beyond to help the local community and it was an honor to join their efforts.”

The purpose of KeysStrong.org, which was established in collaboration with various Keys civic organizations and charities along with Samuel’s House, the Celebration of the Sea Foundation and Entercom Communications, is to raise money and critically needed supplies and services to support those in the Keys who were impacted by Irma, with 100 percent of the donations going directly to the communities that were affected.

Meetings industry groups and others can donate funds or lend their hand by contacting KeysStrong.org at Volunteer@KeysStrong.org.
