In Montgomery County, coloring outside of the lines is absolutely encouraged.
“Our team knows that employees think creatively every day to solve problems in the office,” said Jessica Willingham, director of arts & culture for the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board.
"Why not do the same when it comes to teambuilding?" she added. "We want employees and delegates to get out and engage with the arts—and each other.”
Ready to paint, cook and create together? Here are some choice Montco options for artful teambuilding.
In Jenkintown, the Abington Art Center follows this compelling mantra: “We believe art should be engaging, approachable and, above all else, fun. At AAC, you won’t just observe art. You’ll touch it, feel it, create it and be a part of it.”
It’s a principle rooted in the Center’s origins as the Old York Road Art Guild, founded in 1939 by 26 local women “adamant that they were not a Woman’s Club-our aim is to further the interest in art.” Housed since 1970 in Alverthorpe Manor, an Art Deco-inspired 52-room mansion also from 1939, the Center, set on 27 acres, curates art year-round both inside and in the outdoor Sculpture Park.
Ideal for corporate meetings, the Center offers group-accessible workshops and programs including plein air painting, jewelry-making and the culinary arts.
Offering naturally lit studios, gallery space and an outdoor garden for presentations, conferences, social events and other group activities, the Wayne Art Center in Wayne is based on the belief that “teamwork isn’t always developed in the office.” To “encourage out-of-the-cubicle thinking and productive relationships,” teambuilding programs include fast-paced culinary collaborations, and more leisurely classes in art and ceramics.
At the Cheltenham Center for the Arts in Cheltenham, groups of up to 200 can rent gallery space and take classes and workshops in wide-ranging forms, from calligraphy and ceramics to painting and printmaking and even terrarium-making.
With locations throughout Valley Forge and Montgomery County, national chains Painting with a Twist and Pinot’s Palette both offer art and wine-paired public classes, private parties and teambuilding programs.
