St. Pete Beach
The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Course unveiled 102 renovated tower rooms in November as part of its $50 million multi-year renovation and redevelopment. The new look includes vintage fashion photography from the 1940s.
Bilmar Beach Resort in Treasure Island announced the completion of a full renovation to all 166 studios, efficiencies and suites, as well as refreshed exterior look to match its new “beach chic” design.
The 175-room Hyatt Place St. Petersburg/Downtown opened in September 2017. The hotel has 4,500 total square feet of meeting space.
TradeWinds Island Grand Resort plans to bring the first major redevelopment project to St. Pete Beach in more than a decade. The $55 million renovation will include a 116-foot tall, 12-story hotel, Sugar Sands Resort, boasting 217 hotel rooms.
The 70-room Beach House Suites by the Don CeSar, sister-property of the Don CeSar less than a mile to the north, got all-new one- and two-bedroom suites to the tune of $7.8 million.
Clearwater Beach
The $120 million, 166-room JW Marriott will begin construction this fall with completion scheduled for 2019.
The 287-room Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation to its guest rooms, meeting and event spaces, and public areas. Additionally, the resort has combined two meeting spaces, Belleair and Beach Club, into one 3,100-square-foot ballroom, named Belleair. This space features floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of Clearwater Beach. The upgraded Bayview Room, an exclusive 700-square-foot meeting space on the 8th floor, works for meetings of up to 25 guests.
Opal Sands Resort opened in 2016 and is a luxury resort with a sleek, Mid-Century vibe and a gently curving facade fronting the Gulf of Mexico. All 230 guest rooms boast unobstructed views of the gulf.
Sarasota
Opened in July, the 255-room Westin Sarasota brings 26,000 square feet of upscale meeting space and a rooftop pool and bar area to Sarasota.
The recently opened Zota Beach Resort on Longboat Key offers 187 rooms and has a total of approximately 5,000 square feet of meeting space.
Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection opened a 162-room property with two suites and several on-site restaurants in February. There is approximately 6,000 square feet of meeting space.
This June, The Embassy Suites by Hilton will open a 19-floor property offering 180 suites.
Carlisle Inn will open its first hotel with nearly 100 rooms and 4,000 square feet of meeting space in spring 2018.
TAMPA
Renovations are currently underway at the 727-room Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, including closing the spa and making way for a larger fitness center. Meanwhile, a 519-room JW Marriott Tampa with 100,000 square feet of meeting space will be the first JW Marriott in Tampa and will be completed by 2020. With a combined 1,246 rooms and 150,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the two Marriotts combined will create the largest collection of hotel rooms and meeting space in Tampa Bay. This is all part of the larger Water Street Tampa neighborhood that totals $3 billion in investments in downtown Tampa.
The 277-room Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel completed renovations to its guest rooms and halls and will next start renovations on the pool deck, bar and restaurant. The hotel has 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
Fenway Hotel is scheduled to open September 2018. The 1920s-era building, a Dunedin, Fla., icon, will return to its original role as a hotel. The Mediterranean-style waterfront building will be a Marriott International Autograph Collection with 83 rooms, about 11,000 square feet of meeting space and a rooftop bar.
