Hotel Palomar San Diego Concierge Astrid Naujokaitis Shares Group Recommendations

Hotel Palomar San Diego beer concierge Astrid Naujokaitis – yes, BEER concierge - is the go-to and know-it-all for everything and anything related to San Diego’s beverage of choice. But Naujokaitis’s expertise goes beyond the brews and she can assist with plans and recommendations for attractions, restaurants, activates and more for the Southern California destination.

.What service can you provide to groups that they normally might not receive?

Groups are offered local beers in the Arriba Room during reception/PM breaks. We also offer beer flights in our Curadero Restaurant, including both local San Diego craft beers and local craft beers from Tijuana. Plus, we support with beer tour recommendations.

What are your bar or nightclub recommendations?

We have a great bar downstairs at Curadero and a Taco Window in the second floor Arriba room. Outside of that, we let them know about Parq Nightclub, the Ballast Point Brewing tasting room in Little Italy, Stone Brewing tasting room by Petco Park (home of MLB’s San Diego Padres), downtown’s Mission Brewery and others.

Can you recommend a good place to take a stroll?

Definitely the Headquarters at Seaport. It's got great architecture and history, lots of restaurants and shops. Plus, it’s right by the water and is scenic. We also recommend North Park for a self-guided neighborhood and beer tour. We let guests know to stop by Thorn Street Brewery, Modern Times tasting room, Hess Brewery and Belching Beaver Brewery’s tasting room.

Are there any quirky places we should check out?

Little Italy’s new Food Hall. It’s at the Piazza della Famiglia and has different food stations and a full bar. Little Italy is a super cool place, with a strong cultural heritage. Also, Barrio Logan. Check out the art in Chicano park, enjoy tacos at Salud or Las Cuatras Milpas and check out BorderX Brewing.

What is an unusual request from a group you’ve had?

Fire dancers. Also, a group requested the staff come down and participate in a dance off to the Harlem Shake.

A party of 12 wants to have dinner right away. What restaurant can accommodate last-minute requests of this size?

Our Arriba room, which is located on the mezzanine level of the hotel.

What’s a unique event that has taken place at your property?

Fire dancers on the pool deck and pet adoption events on the pool deck with San Diego Humane society. The pool deck turn into Goosebumps Land for Comic Con one year. And, our annual Pig Roast hosted by Curadero.
