New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott, located adjacent to the airfield, completed a full-scale property renovation including 443 guest rooms and suites, the property’s MClub lounge, 15,000 square feet of meeting space and 19,000 square feet of public spaces. The transformation draws its inspiration from the eclectic, multi-national culinary, arts and cultural scene that comprises the surrounding Queens community, known as the “World’s Borough.”
The property’s new look and feel, imagined by SoHo-based luxury hospitality design firm Krause Sawyer, was inspired by the tagline “Global. Local. Distinctive.” which celebrates Queens’ unique marriage of over 120 nationalities and cultures and is reflected in the use of dynamic patterns, textiles, colors and art from all over the world. The renovation coincides with a reinvention of the 80-year old LaGuardia airport and surrounding areas which includes a new, modern look, as well as improved access to the facility.
The hotel’s 15,000 square feet of meeting spaces were revamped with patterned carpets and metal light fixtures evoking hand-crafted metals and jewelry, with fiber art lining the walls. The meeting and event space includes 19 function rooms and a nearly 5,000-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate up to 400 people.
The hotel also debuted a new dining outlet, Ditmar’s Bar and Grill, named after the boulevard on which the hotel resides and a nod to one of New York city’s earliest settlers. The three-meal restaurant features a menu of modern American fare with regional influences, as well as an extensive wine list and beer selection including eight draft beer varieties.
