Scenic Lake Geneva is 75 miles southeast of Madison, making it a great getaway for groups pre- or post-function. Here are four things to do in the popular resort city.
1. Golf at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. The 1,300-acre property offers two 18-hole golf courses, The Brute and The Highlands. It offers a number of golf packages and golf activities and teambuilding designed for groups. The golf facilities include practice chipping and a putting green, a driving range and golf pro shops.
Link's Bar & Grill provides refreshments and bites before or after tee time.
2. Wine taste at Studio Winery. Studio Winery opened in 2012 in an old machine shop that was extensively renovated. The urban winery offers tastings for groups, light bites and live music on Saturdays and as well as a space for private events for up to 100 guests.
3. Rent a boat at The Abbey Resort. Gordy's Marine has a rental office at the Abbey. There are 20-foot and 22-foot Cobalt Blue Bowriders docked in the harbor and ready to be rented. The Abbey also offers teambuilding adventures on the water, including sailing and kayaking.
4. Take in Lake Geneva history at Black Point Estate and Gardens. The property, once the summer home for Chicago beer baron Conrad Seipp, overlooks the lake.
Built in the late 1800s, the home commissioned by German immigrant Seipp features Queen Anne architecture and intact Victorian furnishings. There are group tours available with a choice of a home tour and lake cruise, or just a tour of the property.
