St. Martin’s New Resort Brings Luxury and All-Inclusive Amenities

A new all-inclusive, adults-only luxury resort is coming St. Martin, continuing the revitalization of the leeward Caribbean hotspot in the wake of 2017’s Hurricane Irma devastation.

Secrets® St. Martin Resort & Spa makes its debut March 1, unveiling a $20 million transformation of a previous resort on tranquil Anse Marcel Bay tucked on the northern side of the island.

It’s the first Secrets resort to come to the French Caribbean, bringing with it its signature Unlimited-Luxury® experience, which includes amenities like gourmet dining, international and domestic top-shelf spirits, 24-hour room and concierge services, pool and beach wait service, daytime activities and nightly entertainment—sans wristbands—plus a host of luxury incentives for corporate groups and meetings.

It’s a welcome addition to the hotel inventory on the small French-Dutch Caribbean island, which saw billions of dollars in damage to buildings and infrastructure after the Category 5 Irma.

“The resort is helping bring greater visibility to the island as an ideal location for meetings and events, while also contributing to restoring inventory on the island,” said Violeta Sales, Corporate Director of Groups for AMResorts®. “We are confident that this new property will benefit in aiding the continued recovery by creating new jobs for people on the island, as well as attracting visitors to the highly regarded Secrets brand in a new destination.”

The Meeting Spaces

Ahead of its grand opening, the resort is already drumming up serious interest from the MICE market.

“This property has been more successful than we anticipated, especially for the meetings and incentive markets,” Sales said. “We already have bookings in 2021 and 2022.”

More than 5,700 square feet of flexible meeting space will be available on-property, including an expansion of the old onsite convention center, which Sales said can host up to 250 people banquet style in its main ballroom. Two breakout conference rooms are also included.

Meeting planners can take advantage of the island’s desirable weather by organizing gatherings at the resort’s covered foyer area, which is ideal for receptions and cocktail parties for up to 100 guests.

Sales said the resort is a great boutique setting for customizing small meetings and conferences, and can also provide that special reward atmosphere to top executives and employees who have won incentive trips. For example, guests have the option of arriving at the resort via catamaran, which can pick up small groups from the airport and take them on a cruise directly to the resort—star treatment for a company’s top performers.

Amenity Details

A unique feature of the new Secrets St. Martin Resort & Spa is that it’s an all-suite resort—each of the 258 accommodations promises ample space, views, 24-hour room service and daily refreshed mini-bars featuring a tropical Caribbean decor and garden elements for relaxation and reconnection with companions.

Other notable features visitors can look forward to include:

  • Stunning ocean, marina and mountain views from all suites.
  • Preferred Club suites offering additional amenities including a private lounge with complimentary and enhanced food and beverage options, complimentary internet access in-suite, upgraded mini-bar service and upgraded bath amenities.
  • The largest infinity pool in the Western Caribbean.
  • Six onsite dining options featuring international cuisine: three a la carte restaurants, a grill, a cafe and a buffet.
  • Direct access to the calm Anse Marcel Bay waters, which are shallow and perfect for swimming, snorkeling and other water sports the resort can help arrange.

The island’s easy accessibility for North American and European travelers from the Princess Julianna International Airport—serving 34 direct flights—and its proximity to other popular Caribbean destinations is another major attraction for meeting groups.

“With the island’s longstanding reputation as a sought-after vacation destination and its affordability and accessibility, we anticipate attendees wanting to extend a business trip at Secrets St. Martin with a few days of leisure travel to truly experience the island and nearby Anguilla.”

Anguilla—a British territory and popular beach destination—is just a 20-minute boat ride away.

More Secrets Resorts Moves

The opening of Secrets St. Martin marks the beginning of what promises to be a busy decade for the luxury AMResorts® brand. Sales said plans are already underway to open more resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, noting debuts in Playa del Carmen (2020) and Aruba (2022).
