Edward Harris Leaves Valley Forge for Top Slot in Lancaster, PA

Edward Harris, chief marketing officer of the Philadelphia area’s Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB), has left the tourism promotion organization to accept the job of president and CEO of Discover Lancaster, located in Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

In a communication with the VFTCB Board of Directors, VFTCB President & CEO Mike Bowman wrote the following:

“Over the last six years, Ed has been instrumental with marketing strategies, launching more than a dozen brands, producing more than 40 videos, and helping the organization win almost 100 awards,” Bowman wrote. “Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and well-respected, Ed has always been an early adapter of new technologies, and has taken our social media, website, and partnerships to a whole new level. He also introduced new events, community give-back initiatives, seasonal publications, and even a mascot!”

Harris has an extensive marketing background, having worked as director of marketing for eBay, a brand manager for Under Armour, senior international brand manager for Timberland and brand manager for Converse before joining the VFTCB. He holds an MBA in management from Boston College and a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Saint Joseph’s University.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity and honor to be chosen to lead an impressive organization like Discover Lancaster and top-tier destination like Lancaster County,” Harris said.

Harris is set to assume the new role June 22.
