Whispering Lakes Golf Course in Ontario, California

As face-to-face meetings return and organizations get back to business, colleagues may be seeing one another for the first time in almost 19 months. Planning teambuilding activities that double as a way to explore a new destination may be in high demand—especially in locations like Greater Ontario, California, where abundant sunshine beckons visitors outside.

Below are a few team-bonding activities that are easy to work into the agenda during your next meeting in Ontario or Rancho Cucamonga.

Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park

Located just blocks away from Ontario International Airport and a short ride from the Ontario Convention Center is 150 acres of outdoor recreation at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park. Two lakes within the park are ideal for fishing, plus picnic shelters for corporate events are plentiful—four large shelters and three small shelters that can be reserved for events up to a year in advance.

Groups can organize team picnics on site paired with old-school lawn teambuilding games or conduct an outdoor brainstorming session for a change of scenery.

Golf at Whispering Lakes in Ontario

The 18-hole Whispering Lakes in Ontario is ready-made for teambuilding. The city-owned course, which originally opened in 1960, made $1 million in updates in 2013 debuting a new clubhouse, renovated landscape, new golf carts and equipment that returned the course to its original luster.

In its heyday, the course was a PGA tour stop. Now, groups can book time to bond at the historic links. The course can also host tournaments and host pre-tourney breakfast events or post-play awards at its spacious outdoor garden space, for up to 180 people.

Taking a group to a local baseball game is a long favorite teambuilding activity during meetings and events, and gatherings in Greater Ontario are no exception. LoanMart Field—home to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, a Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate—is an outdoor baseball park. Group tickets can be purchased for 20 or more people, and they come with benefits like a group PA announcement and scoreboard signage.

Different sections of the field can be reserved for private events, like the suites or dugout decks. Pre-game picnics with your group can also be arranged at the field.

For groups that want to play ball themselves, corporate softball tournaments can be organized at the softball fields at the Epicenter Stadium in Ranch Cucamonga.
