On a list of destinations making impressive leaps in their post-pandemic recovery, Anaheim is fighting for a place on top.
Visit Anaheim, which has been strategically focused on short-term convention business bookings to fuel local recovery, recently announced its 2022 confirmed bookings for the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) are up 11% compared to 2019 numbers, with leisure travel and short-term convention bookings leading the strong return to the city.
“Visit Anaheim had a strong summer with shows like NAMM, VidCon, Star Wars Celebration and many more that returned to the Anaheim Convention Center. These shows along with a strong leisure return contributed to an 82% occupancy seen in Anaheim and Garden Grove for the month of June,” said Junior Tauvaa, Chief Sales Officer, Visit Anaheim. “That’s only 5% behind occupancy levels seen in June 2019, which shows we are getting that much closer to reaching pre-pandemic levels.”

One thing planners appreciate most about hosting conventions in Anaheim is the convention center campus’ walkability and safety, according to Visit Anaheim. The ACC campus also encompasses four world-class hotels, totaling 4,900 rooms within 100 yards of the convention center.
Planners take advantage of the ACC’s space as the largest convention center on the west coast. The addition of ACC North in 2017 brought another 200,000 square feet of flexible space to Anaheim, and outdoor spaces including Grand Plaza and Arena Plaza allow for sunshine and entertainment including food trucks, yoga classes and movies under the stars. The Katella Terrace even offers a view of Disneyland’s nightly fireworks.

Visit Anaheim has 21 remaining events scheduled at the Anaheim Convention Center through the end of the year, which will bring the D23 Expo 2022 and Solar Power International 2022 events, ultimately wrapping up 2022 with $222 million in economic impact to the city.
Visit Anaheim will host 90% of the events booked at the Anaheim Convention Center from 2022-2024, bringing nearly 189,000 room nights to local hotels, as well as $444 million in economic impact in Anaheim across attendees dining, shopping and exploring the city.
