Christopher Thompson Named Director of Sports and Big Events at New York City Tourism + Conventions

Christopher Thompson

New York City Tourism + Conventions (formerly known as “NYC & Company”) recently announced that Christopher Thompson would join the organization as the new director, sports and big events.

Thompson will primarily work with the Government Relations team and will oversee and support the promotion of sports and big events within the organization that drives tourism and visitation to New York City's five boroughs. While the majority of Thompson’s work will focus on sporting events, he will also be working on a variety of big events that will attract visitors and tourists to the New York City area.

Prior to joining the New York City Tourism + Conventions team, Thompson worked at Destination DC for over six years, working on sports and special events development for Washington, D.C.’s tourism team. Thompson helped coordinate multiple successful bids to bring events such as the Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer All-Star Games to D.C., as well as the Army vs. Navy Football Game, NCAA Men's Basketball Regional Tournament Championship, various college basketball conference tournament championships, and the World Culture Festival.
