Grand Hyatt Seattle Announces Additions to Leadership Team

Grand Hyatt Seattle announced additions to its leadership team, including a new general manager, director of sales and director of operations.  

Chris Jacoby will become the property’s new as director of sales, Mohammed Khan will serve as director of operations and Manfred Steuerwald will become the new general manager. All three executives collectively bring decades of hospitality experience to their new roles, having each led high-end properties across North America.

Steuerwald has over 40 years of experience working in the hospitality industry, starting his career in 1988 working as a sous chef at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman. Over the years, he has held a variety of positions at different Hyatt properties including serving as the executive chef at Manchester Grand Hyatt in California and Hyatt Regency Denver, the director of operations at Grand Hyatt Denver and director of food and beverage at Manchester Grand Hyatt. Prior to joining the Grand Hyatt Seattle team, Steuerwald served as the general manager of the formerly Resort at Squaw Creek, now known as Everline Resort & Spa, in Olympic Valley, California.

Grand Hyatt’s new director of sales, Jacoby, has over 20 years of experience working in hotel sales and marketing management in the luxury and lifestyle sector. In his new role, he will use his passion for branding and positioning to market the Grand Hyatt Seattle to meeting and event planners as the hotel of choice in Seattle.  

Khan will serve the new director of operations for the property and is a Washington state native, having worked in hospitality since 2010. Khan was most recently the assistant director of operations for the Hyatt group’s A Seattle Collection, having been promoted to that role from the director of rooms in 2022. Khan will be tasked with ensuring and promoting guest satisfaction, colleague satisfaction, cleanliness, building functionality, and the overall financial success of the property.
