Hotel Openings and Renovation Updates in South Carolina, Texas and Georgia

Beach House Hilton Head Island, Hilton Head Island’s only oceanfront boutique hotel resort, recently announced that its on-the-beach live music venue, Tiki Hut, will receive an $11 million full transformation. The music venue will undergo an expansion with plans to add a new bar, fire pits and decking and also plans to relocate Tiki Hut’s stage.

The property upgrades will introduce a new open-air pavilion, The Dunes, to the resort that will be available for outdoor meetings and events and will stand at 2,880 square feet. The property also features several indoor event venues, including the 3,510-square-foot Sand & Surf Ballroom, the 1,836-square-foot Sky Room and the 1,007-square-foot Ocean Room.

Tiki Hut will also feature live music seven days a week, with the beachfront bar expanding its roster of performers as well as its hours in 2024.

Houston’s newest luxury hotel, Thompson Houston, opened its doors in February and features 172 residential-style guest rooms and 34 suites, each with floor-to-ceiling windows. The new hotel, designed by award-winning architecture firm HOK, is meant to invoke the luxury and spirit of a Texas oil baron’s home. The hotel is located directly across from the 160-acre Buffalo Bayou Park, is in close proximity to the Galleria shopping center and downtown Houston and is a 25-minute drive from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William Hobby Airport.

Thompson Houston offers more than 17,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space able to accommodate groups of up to 800 attendees. The largest spaces include the 8,000-square-foot Vesper Ballroom, which can be reconfigured into three separate rooms, and the 5,200-square-foot Vesper prefunction space, able to accommodate up to 800 and 500 attendees, respectively. Nestled in the heart of the Design District in Dallas lies the AAA Four-Diamond Hilton Anatole, a historic hotel that has hosted legendary performing artists and conventions and is home to one of the largest hotel art collections in the United States. The 45-acre property recently unveiled a $30 million renovation of its 718 Tower guest rooms that introduced new furnishings, carpets and art installations. The hotel’s total room count has also grown from 1,606 rooms to 1,610 rooms.

The Hilton Anatole houses five restaurants and bars including SER Steak & Spirits on the 27th floor, featuring breathtaking views of the Dallas skyline. The hotel also offers many recreational activities, including a Topgolf Swing Suite with three bays to play virtual games.

Hilton Anatole offers more than 600,000 square feet of total meeting space spread across 79 meeting rooms and an exhibit space. The largest of these spaces, the Trinity Exhibit Hall, is able to accommodate over 1,300 attendees and measures 73,000 square feet. The Hilton Anatole also features nine ballrooms, 45 meeting rooms and outdoor event venues.

A Southern Mansion Transformed

The real estate development and hospitality firm LEFT LANE, which specializes in the transformation of historic properties, has unveiled its newest property in Savannah, Georgia, called Hotel Bardo Savannah. The sprawling two-acre resort houses 149 guest rooms including 50 suites, a coastal Italian restaurant, a holistic fitness and wellness spa and a membership social club. The adaptive reuse project has transformed a 19th-century Southern Gothic mansion into an urban resort and social club.

The resort is also home to multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces, the largest of which is Club Bardo, a private club above the Saint Bibiana Italian restaurant featuring over 5,000 square feet of intimate event space for up to 150 attendees. The space offers full buyout options and has a terrace overlooking the nearby Forsyth Park.

The 3,450-square-foot Savannah Ballroom is another option for groups, able to accommodate gatherings of up to 200 people and opening up to The Courtyard, which provides an additional 2,520 square feet of event space. The Event Lawn also pays homage to the former mansion’s original use as a private home in the late 1800s with its own street-side entrance.
