Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Announces $275 Million Transformation

Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin

In November, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort broke ground on their first major meeting space expansion in over 20 years. This latest addition boosts the property's existing meeting and convention space with an extra 120,000 square feet of event space via a two-story annex to be added to the Dolphin’s existing function space.

Inspired by the property’s original Michael Graves design, this remarkable space is sun drenched and suggests a distinctive modern flair with water themes alongside warm, rustic touches.

Entering guests will be greeted in a breezy atrium by shimmering sun highlighted through floor to ceiling windows. With a winding staircase and a two-story chandelier, the annex invites a planner's creativity as to how to best utilize 41,000 square feet of first floor, multi-purpose space with 24,000 square feet of extra prefunction space to unleash your grandest ideas. The possibilities are endless!

The second floor houses an elegant ballroom with an additional 41,000 square feet of divisible event space and 14,000 square feet of prefunction foyer space to once again inspire your best ideas.

“We look forward to delivering such a major transformation for our customers. These enhancements will be a great addition to our iconic and award-winning operation,” said Area General Manager Sean Verney. “It positions our property to remain at the forefront of meeting and convention venues globally.”

Between its three buildings, (Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve) the expansion will bring the triplex’s total meeting space to 469,000 square feet, an ideal proportion to the 2,619 available guest rooms.

In addition to the expansion, the property is upgrading the meeting space in the Swan and Dolphin and the Swan’s guest rooms as part of an overall $275 million refurbishment project.

Scheduled for completion in 2026, the new convention space will make it one of the largest convention properties on the East Coast.

Ideally located at Walt Disney World Resort, the three-hotel complex delivers a wide variety of scenic and functional outdoor event spaces that will dazzle groups with a private beach, lakeside terrace and causeway featuring EPCOT views.
