Lessons from the CIA—How to Pivot in Times of Crisis
Presented by Michele Rigby Assad, Inspirational Speaker
One thing you learn planning and carrying out operations in war zones is that no matter how hard you try, you can’t prepare for every contingency. You have to get good at pivoting in the moment and making decisions on the fly. Such is the new world thrust on us in 2020 and 2021. Strong leadership understands that now is not the time to maintain continuity of operations—it is time to rethink everything.
Learning Objectives:
- - Learn how to harness fear to cultivate optimism and resiliency.
- - Understand how to promote an environment in which your team members’ unique experiences, outlook, and creativity can be harnessed to solve operational challenges.
Thank you to Goodman Speaker Management for providing this awesome speaker!

Davis will also provide a "lay of the land" on how Louisville was impacted by COVID-19 and how the destination is recovering, with key data points on hotel occupancy, ADR (average daily rate) and trend lines.
Learning Objectives:
- - Forecasting data that will inform site selection and conference date options.
- - How to build attendance by utilizing the free services provided by DMCs.
- - Tips on how to market the destination for your meeting.
- - Best practices on partnering with a DMO.
TESTIMONIALS
“I loved the mix of getting to know the attendees, hearing from suppliers, and learning trends in the marketplace. Thank you!”
“Right up until the day I left, I was concerned as COVID cases were on a constant rise. I was worried that I would not feel comfortable enough to enjoy it. However, I was completely wrong as I felt safer in meetings than I have felt going to the grocery store.”
“I do not have words!!! You are true leaders in our industry. Showing all of us with your partners on how to bring meetings back!!! The culinary experiences with your partners exceed expectations. I feel that our industry is coming back better than ever. We may have been on auto pilot and now I feel true hospitality. You all should be so PROUD! I will sing your praise forever...thank you for this experience.”
“All the folks we met with Meetings Today were warm and genuine people. It was a pleasure to work alongside these individuals and an honor to be the host hotel for this great event!”
