Mrs. Arlene Nash Ferguson is a true embodiment of Bahamian heritage and culture.
As she describes herself:
-A Bahamian by birth,
-A teacher by profession
-A Junkanoo by passion, and
-A child of God by inheritance.
Arlene Nash Ferguson is a prominent Bahamian educator, cultural historian, and advocate for the preservation of Bahamian traditions, especially Junkanoo. Born in Delancey Town, Nassau, she has been deeply involved in Junkanoo since she was a child, making her one of the early pioneers among women in this cultural celebration. Her love for Junkanoo and her desire to keep Bahamian culture alive led her and her husband to establish Educulture Bahamas Ltd., a museum and resource center dedicated to the history and practice of Junkanoo.
Ferguson served in education for over 24 years, holding key roles such as principal of St. John's College. She has also contributed to various national committees on culture and education, helping to shape Bahamian cultural policy. Additionally, she has written several books focusing on Bahamian sports legends and culture.
