Developers signed contracts for a 28-story Marriott resort hotel as part of a $2.4 billion redevelopment of the Ocean Mall here, according to a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Catalfumo Construction and Development signed a contract with Riviera Beach officials for a 50-year lease of the city’s municipal beach to build a $280 million hotel and retail complex.
“This is the most important signing in the history of Riviera Beach,” Mayor Michael said during the signing.
Critics of the plan say the project could result in citizens losing access to the beach, and filed a lawsuit against the city in an attempt to put the development plan up for a vote.
