Tollett Leaves Houston CVB

After 35 years of public service, Gerard J. “Jordy” Tollett left his job as president and CEO of the Greater Houston CVB (GHCVB) to pursue other ventures, according to the GHCVB.

Tollett offered, and the bureau’s executive committee accepted, his services on a consulting basis until 2008 to assist in the leadership transition. The bureau said GHCVB chairman Doug Horn and chairman emeritus Don Henderson will coordinate the day-to-day operations at the bureau until a permanent replacement is named.

Tollett assumed the role of president and CEO in 1997.

During his tenure, Tollett’s major accomplishments included drawing the following major events to Houston: the 1992 Republican National Convention; the 2004 NFL Super Bowl and MLB All-Star Game; the 2006 NBA All-Star Game; and the 2006 Essence Music Festival.
