The San Francisco CVB (SFCVB), in conjunction with the San Francisco International Airport (SFO), opened an office in Beijing in an effort to increase business and leisure travel to San Fancisco from China.
The new office is expected to boost demand for air travel linking SFO and China’s capital in the following segments: business travel, technical visits, meetings and conventions, and leisure travel.
According to the SFCVB, San Francisco welcomed more than 70,000 visitors from China in 2005 and expects the number to dramatically increase in the coming years.
“Many conventions in San Francisco have a very high percentage of international attendees, particularly in the medical and high-tech fields,” said Deborah Reinow, vice president of tourism for the SFCVB. “This segment presents a great opportunity to expand the delegations that come from China.”
