Baha Mar Resorts formed a joint venture with Harrah’s Entertainment and Starwood Hotels & Resorts to build a 1,000-acre resort here named Baha Mar.
Construction is scheduled to begin this year and is expected to cost more than $2 billion, with an opening date set for 2011.
The project is slated to offer 3,000 guest rooms at properties such as the 1,000-room Caesars Resort Hotel at Baha Mar, a property slated to contain a 100,000-square-foot casino.
The resort will also include four Starwood-branded resorts: W Baha Mar, St. Regis Baha Mar, Westin Baha Mar, and the Sheraton Cable Beach Resort.
The Sheraton, formerly the Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort, is scheduled to open this year after an $80 million renovation.
Baha Mar will also offer visitors 200,000 square feet of meeting space, a 20-acre beach, a retail village, high-end restaurants, and a variety of entertainment venues.
