DiamondRock Hospitality, based here, acquired the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel and plans to expand the facility’s meeting space and possibly build another hotel adjacent to it.
The Westin, attached to the new Boston Convention and Exhibit Center, contains 793 guest rooms and 32,000 square feet of meeting space.
The hotel currently offers 100,000 square feet of retail space. DiamondRock plans to convert that space into group function space.
The company also plans to either expand the existing hotel or construct a new 325-room hotel on a block of land next to the property.
