Atlantic City Casinos May Snuff Out Butts, Partially

Following an initial vote Jan. 24, Atlantic City casinos may soon be faced with a partial smoking ban.

Press reports indicate the final vote is expected to go in front of the Atlantic City Council in a few weeks, and if passed would mandate that all of Atlantic City casinos designate a quarter of their establishments to smoking and the rest to non-smoking.

The smoking sections would reportedly be sectioned off by floor-to-ceiling walls with adequate ventilation to keep fumes away from non-smoking patrons.

According to reports, the partial ban is an adjustment from the City Council’s original idea to ban smoking entirely inside all of Atlantic City’s casinos. The City Council decided to entertain the idea of a partial ban after it was faced with fierce opposition from casino owners at the initial idea.
