After a section of its flooring collapsed Feb. 5, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, located here, was fixed and plans to reopen March 9.
On Feb. 5, a 20-foot-by-60-foot slab of concrete floor of the facility’s second floor loading dock collapsed onto the walkway and water feature below, raising concerns for the center’s safety.
But according to press reports, independent facility inspections have concluded that the collapse was the result of a faulty expansion joint in the loading dock, and has since been repaired.
