Harrah’s Entertainment announced a $1 billion expansion of Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace that includes a new hotel tower and a major increase in meeting and conventions space.
The expansion will result in the property offering 300,000 square feet of meeting space and will feature a new 263,000-square-foot convention center that connects to existing space in the Palace Tower. The facility will be constructed on two levels and feature 110,000 square feet of flexible meeting, ballroom and exhibit space.
The new meeting facilities will replace the existing Events Center.
The expansion will also include a new 665-room hotel tower, named Octavius Tower, which will adjoin the 2-year-old Augustus Tower. Plans are also under way to remodel all of the guest rooms in the property’s 452-room Forum Tower.
The Forum Tower refurbishment is scheduled to be completed in January at a cost of $83 million. The expansion project is targeted for an early 2009 completion.
