Mike McAfee, director of the Joplin CVB, resigned and plans to take the reins of the Bloomington [Ind.] CVB.
McAfee's last day will be Aug. 24 and he will start working in Bloomington Sept. 5.
"I had a great time here and I've enjoyed it. The city has grown and the CVB is part of making that happen. Joplin is in a good place and will continue to grow after I am gone," he said. "I'm excited to be going to Bloomington. It is a very successful CVB already, so I am interested in being a part of that."
According to McAfee, a search committee has been formed and a national search for his successor will begin soon.
