MPI opened an Asia-Pacific office in Singapore Oct. 25, and named Michael Tay as its director of operations, Asia-Pacific.
Announced at the WEC in Montreal at the end of July, the Asia-Pacific office is the association's fourth worldwide, joining offices in Toronto, Luxembourg and its global headquarters in Dallas.
"An office in Asia-Pacific will enable our members who are currently doing business in this thriving region to enjoy the same community connections that they already enjoy in other parts of the world," said Bruce MacMillan, MPI's president and CEO.
"Singapore's regional hub position, long-term expertise in the meetings and events industry and multicultural workforce provides the perfect location for our new management structure. Our goal is also to expand our relationships in the region and explore ways in which MPI can deliver its value propositions within the Asian meetings and events industry."
Tay, a native Singaporean, has an extensive background in marketing and is an adjunct professor at the University of Las Vegas, Singapore campus teaching MICE. He is fluent in English and two Chinese dialects.
