The Greenbrier resort and the Greenbrier Council of Labor Unions have signed a no strike, no lock-out agreement in effect until next Jan. 4 or until new contracts are completed.
The Greenbrier and the nine unions that represent workers there have been in negotiations since their contract expired last January.
Resort officials had warned convention customers of a possible work stoppage, causing some to find new locations. Cancellations included the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, a long-time customer that annually convenes in the fall and books more than 700 rooms at the resort.
“Both The Greenbrier and the Council of Labor Unions feel that this is a positive step and are hopeful that this assurance may provide an opportunity to recover lost group business and improve business levels for the resort, therefore leading to greater opportunities for employees to work,” said resort spokeswoman Lynn Swann in a statement.
